Where the money is swimming upstream
Signals fire only when the underdog draws at least 20 points more of the money than its odds, with $25k or more behind it. Each one is logged the moment it fires.

Where the salmon are running
The top three underdogs in each corner of Kalshi drawing more of the last 24 hours of money than their odds suggest. The multiple is money share ÷ odds. A gold badge means it clears the ledger's strict bar.

Do contrarians actually win?
Underdogs lose most of the time, which is what makes them underdogs. So we don't just count wins: we compare them to what the odds promised, and track what a flat $100 on every signal would have made.
Every signal gets a timestamped public record the moment it fires.
Contrarians' win rate next to the average odds they were given.
Paper profit or loss at the price when each signal fired, after fees.
Backtest · settled Kalshi markets
We already looked back. No edge.
Before logging a single live signal, we ran over 2,000 settled Kalshi markets through the same rule. The underdogs the money backed won about as often as their odds said they would. Outside sports, they won far less.
Right in line with the odds. The NFL came out slightly ahead (+4%); the NBA, MLB and NHL didn't.
Blindly backing every underdog did better than following the money. Probably a lucky stretch, not a strategy.
Here the money swimming upstream was usually wrong: long shots, not insiders.
So why keep the ledger? Because the past is one sample, and the only fair test is to keep score in public from here on. Read the lists above as what the money is doing, not as picks.
Signals use the live rule (gap of 20+ points, $25k+ traded), checked 24 hours before a game or race and 12 hours before a yes/no market closed, priced at the signal's odds with Kalshi's trading fee. Sports: 1,052 NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL games and political races, Oct 2024 to Oct 2026. Yes/no: 969 of the busiest settled markets, mostly 2025 and 2026.
Why we do this
SHEETSENSE · AGAINST THE CURRENT
Dear contrarian,
Everyone loves you in hindsight. The upset, the call nobody believed, the price that looked crazy until it didn't. Nobody loves you the night before, when the whole river is flowing the other way.
This page is for that night before. When real money goes against the odds, we write down who, how much, and at what price. Then we wait. Win or lose, it goes in the ledger, and it stays there.
Most of the time, the current wins. That's the point of a current. But if you've ever wondered whether the people swimming the other way know something, this is where we find out together.
— with love, SheetSense
How it's measured
Three rules, no takebacks
Money vs. odds
For every sports and political market, we add up the last 24 hours of money by who started each trade. A signal is an underdog drawing 20+ points more of that money than its odds, with $25k+ traded.
Logged on the spot
The price, the gap, and the dollars are saved the moment a signal fires, one per game or race, in a public timestamped record that can't be edited after the fact.
Judged on settlement
When the market settles, we mark it won or lost and compare the record to the odds the market gave, plus a flat $100 paper bet on every signal.
Against the Current tracks public Kalshi market data for fun and curiosity. It is not betting or investment advice, and following crowds or contrarians loses money as often as it makes it. For readers 18 and older.
